The Perfect Day
So remember my post about my "perfect night"? I feel today I experienced the "perfect day" equivalent.
Here's the thing about SF. Whatever I have been doing hasn't been anything out of the ordinary. Everything just feels right here. I can't explain it any other way. Let me tell you about my day.
Woke up bright and early and treated myself to a scrumptious breakfast consisting of leftovers from the previous night. Spent a few hours reviewing Kaplan DAT material and ate some Chinese sticky rice that my aunt had left me for lunch. Delicious!
I had made plans to shadow/assist at the UCSF dental clinic and so I attempted to make my way down there via public transport. I'm honestly not very used to public transportation seeing as how I have lived in Oklahoma for the past 10 years and so unfortunately I was a bit late getting to the clinic. Not realizing that Muni ran below ground and exiting a stop too early made my first foray into SF public transportation quite memorable. I eventually made it to the dental clinic and by pure coincidence ran into Vagan, a fellow UCO alum, who's a 2nd year dental student at UCSF. Assisting in the clinic was an awesome experience. I haven't had much hands-on dental experience apart from my dental lab internship and so I really enjoyed it. The 4th year student that I assisted even encouraged my photobug tendencies which was awesome. Definitely an experience I want to remember!
After finishing up in the clinic, I met with Vagan at an Irish pub a few blocks away and enjoyed a nice chat about his experiences with dental school and UCSF. My trip back home was much more pleasant. Didn't miss any of my stops!
With all of my family and friends in the area being busy with either work or school, I took the opportunity to walk around and take in the city. The amount of options and opportunities in the city are phenomenal. I walked past 3 different sushi bars, a handful and of Thai and Indian restaurants, a multitude of neat shops and stores that caught my eye.
I settled on a restaurant nearby called Zushi Puzzle which was just another few blocks away from where I'm staying. I LOVE how close everything is. Just can't get enough. Sushi was fantastic. The fish was unbelievably fresh and uber-tasty. The wait staff was so incredible with their recommendations that I ended up ordering too much! 3 orders of nigiri, 1 handroll, 1 order of sashimi, and 3 rolls later -- I called in for reinforcements. Luckily, some family and friends got off work and headed over to join me for dinner. At this point, I'm absolutely thrilled. Great food, great company.. I can't ask for anything more! The sushi looked spectacular and I have a peculiar habit of photographing the food I eat while I'm in the city. Take a look at my Picasa albums. Foods galore! So before my company joined me, I had a ton of plates with various foods overtaking my table and after taking a few shots with my camera, a couple of girls from the table next to me asked if I was a food blogger, haha. So yeah, food was amazing, company was great and to top it off, the chef treated our table to complimentary shots of sake. Can't beat that.
