Daryn and James's Excellent Shaving Adventure

St. Baldrick's 2011 has come and gone along with a head full of hair! You never really notice how warm your hair keeps you until it's no longer there. Over 200 shavees participated in the event raising well over $100,000! A huge shout-out goes to my fellow shavees, the volunteers, and especially to all of the donors.

Last year, I raised just shy of $200. This year I was joined by my fraternity brother James who constantly encouraged and pushed me to my limits as I sought additional funding opportunities. As young, mature professionals, we named our team "Shave Me Bad", haha. It was a toss up between that and "Oo Me So Baldy". I guess there's always next year! When we first created the event, we set our goal at $500. Soon after, it was raised to $1000 and then eventually $2500. All in all, we ended up raising $3,425. Donations continued to come in even after the event had ended.

Truthfully I've lost track of the number of times I've thanked our donors for their generosity. Every single time I refreshed my profile page and caught wind of an additional donation -- I felt my heart swell. It was a wonderful feeling to have the support of family and friends from all over the world. Every little bit helped us to achieve such a lofty goal and I'm ever so grateful for having been able to participate in this event.
